COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to earn a qualified pilot the ability to train others towards a sport pilot certificate. A sport pilot instructor may only teach in light sport aircraft, but only requires a minimum of 150 hours of flight experience and at least a sport pilot certificate (no commercial certificate is required).

HOW WE DO IT

You must be at least 18 to take the check ride. We incorporate ground and flight training using our Remos GX airplane and comprehensive syllabus to meet the requirements of 14CFR Part 61 Subpart K Flight Instructors with a Sport Pilot Rating.

FAA REQUIREMENTS

  • 150 hours of flight time as a pilot
  • 100 hours of flight time as pilot in command in powered aircraft
  • 50 hours of flight time in a single-engine airplane
  • 25 hours of cross-country flight time
  • 15 hours of flight time as pilot in command in a single-engine airplane that is a light-sport aircraft
  • 10 hours of cross-country flight time in a single-engine airplane
